Facilities

  1. Where are the washrooms located?

    They are located on both sides of the main stage and in the middle of the walking route. Besides, at the U turn point, there is public toilet at Chong San Road and at the end point, there is a public toilet within the Pak Shek Kok Park.

  2. What kind of restaurants are nearby? What kind of food do they offer?

    There are various types of dining facilities along the way and near the main stage.

  3. Are there any food supply stores or snack booths along the way, offering drinks and snacks?

    Yes, but they are at your own expense.

  4. Is there a first aid station? Where is it?

    Yes, HK St. John Ambulance will provide first aid service. It is located in the first tent ahead.

Transportation

  1. Is there a parking spot for buses carrying walkers?

    Arrangement has been made with the Science Park management office to provide drop off point for coaches carrying participants for the walkathon. However, bus drivers need to handle parking on their own.

  2. If I want to leave midway, where can I find transportation?

    You can leave at the U turn point at Chong San Road where different bus routes to the Kowloon are available. Nevertheless, it is easier to find various types of transportation at the starting point.

  3. How do I leave this science park after reaching the endpoint?

    There will be clear indications at the endpoint on how to leave. (You can take a bus directly to the Kowloon and to the University Station, walk to University Station for about 30 minutes)

The Kick-off ceremony

  1. Who is responsible for managing the crowd before the opening ceremony?

    There are dedicated volunteers together with members from the above Commission responsible for crowd management.

  2. How are early bird invited guests arranged for seating?

    Please register at the front desk for invited guests, then dedicated volunteers will guide you to your seat.

  3. It is believed that after 2:30 pm, there will be a large number of participants arriving at the venue. How will they be arranged to sit or stand?

    They can stand outside the VIP area, but please be mindful not to block traffic flow.

  4. Who can enter the front of the stage?

    This front seating area is only for invited guests. There is also a limited seating area at the back of the stage, on first come first served basis for participants.

  5. Will the Bishop come to preside over the opening ceremony? When will he come? Are there any other guests?

    Yes, he will come and preside over the opening ceremony at 3 pm. Father Dominic Chan and other diocesan priests are also guests for the event. Besides, every parish priest with one representative are also invited.

  6. When does the music start? When does it end?

    The music starts at 2:15 pm and ends around 4:30 pm.

  7. What kind of music is provided here?

    There will be choir singing and band performances.

The Walk

  1. When will the walk start? Can I start now? Where does the walk start?

    The walk officially starts at 3:30 pm, but individuals can start anytime before or after the opening ceremony. Last starting time will be 4:30 pm. The starting point is the waterfront promenade just opposite to the stage for opening ceremony.

  2. Where is the endpoint? How far is the walk to the endpoint?

    The endpoint is at the Pak Shek Kok Promenade Park. The distance from the starting point to the endpoint is 3.2 kilometres. It takes about 70 minutes to complete.

  3. Do I need to get a stamp to start the walk?

    No, a stamp is not required, but please go to the reception desk to get a sticker to put on.

  4. Do I need a stamp at the endpoint?

    No, but there will be a small souvenir given to participants.

Others

  1. Can I donate now? Can I donate again?

    Donations for walkathon must be delivered to the respective school/parish, where sponsorship form is obtained, from 24 April to 7 May 2023. If donation boxes are provided for sponsoring the clergy for the walkathon or for the diocese and no receipt is required, donations can be placed inside the donation boxes. If you wish to donate, you can visit the web site of the Commission at http://donate.catholic.org.hk anytime. You are welcome to be a monthly donor by completing the monthly donor form.

  2. Are there any game booths?

    No game booths are set up today.

  3. What kind of event is this?

    This is a charity walk organized by the Diocesan Fund-raising Commission for Church Building & Development, Hong Kong Catholic Diocese, to raise funds.
