St Jerome's Church in Tin Shui Wai conducted its 25th Anniversary Walkathon on 24 November 2019. Hundred plus parishioners took part with their family members and successfully raised approximately $180,000, 25% of which would be used to support the church building and development works of the Diocese while the rest will be spent on upgrading the air conditioning system of the parish and support other repair and maintenance works.

At 1:00 pm on the day, participants departed in two groups – one led by Rev Benedict lam, Rev P. Santoso and Rev Deacon Alex Kwok taking the route of the Peak Tower, Lugard Road and Harlech Road; another more challenging route from the Cathedral going uphill to the Peak was led by Rev Simon Li, Rev Joseph Mai and Rev Deacon Anthony Pun.

Adopting the theme “Come build our 'home' together”, the Parish encouraged faithful to support the place where their faith grew and strengthened, spending a day in the nature at the same time.

Parish Priest Rev Simon Li said “We care what the Church cares for…. to be able to make our share of contribution to the Diocese is one way to live out the unity of the Church… This is also our responsibility as “part of the mystical body”; every one of us was more than willing to render our support.”

Mr Simon Li and Mr Henry Lo, Member of the Diocesan Fund-raising Commission for Church Building and Development received the donation from the Chairperson of the St Jerome's Parish Council after mass on 19 January 2020.

Rev Benedict Lam, Chairperson of the Commission, was grateful for the support of St Jerome's and aspired to extend on earth the physical sign of God's mercifulness.
