The first fund-raising event for the Diocese’s church building and development fund after the easing of the Covid prevention measures has come to a successful conclusion.

Riding on the success of first Joint-school Rope Skipping Charity Rally last year, this year’s campaign had successfully recruited 113 schools from the Diocese, the Catholic RCS, and the Caritas. The event was organized by the Catholic Education Office and co-ordinated by the Hong Kong Catholic Diocesan Schools Council with the support from the catholic Religious Schools Council and the Caritas Hong Kong – Vocational Training & Education. The event culminated in the "725 Rope Skipping Fun Day" and ended successfully. On the one hand, this meaningful activity encourages students to do more exercise and cultivate regular exercise habits, thereby establishing a healthy lifestyle; on the other hand, it unites Catholic schools, strengthens mutual ties, and contributes to the building and development of the Diocese of Hong Kong, a vivid express of the great love of God.

725 Rope Skipping Fun Day was held on July 25 (Monday) at St. Joseph's English Secondary School. The event was officiated by Bishop Stephen Chow; Rev Joseph Ha, VG, Rev Dominic Chan, Chairman of the Commission and Mr Joseph Kung, Episcopal Delegate for Education, and a group of priests also attended and supported the event. The event ceremony was led by Rev Benedict Lam in prayer; Bishop Stephen Chow presented the opening speech and Rev Dominic Chan delivered a thank-you note. The athletes of the Hong Kong team were giving a wonderful rope skipping performance kicking off the fun of the event day.

Student reps participated in the "Let's Jump on the Rope, Glorifying God" on the basketball court and performed rope skipping relays in groups. The fun day was live-streamed online together with the school-based rope skipping relay activities and video clips of "Connecting the Rope, Showing the Lord's Love" at various school venues to promote the rope skipping. Bishop Chow, the guests and the principals also mingled with the students in rope skipping. A warm and joyful atmosphere filled the entire campus. Thank and praise the Lord!
