For the extension of St Joseph’s Church in Fanling, the new church in Tung Chung, development of Catholic cemeteries and other projects, the Diocese intends to raise $500 million by the end of 2022. Five hundred million is certainly not a small amount, so how should we go about it?
According to the statistics in August 2020, Hong Kong has about 400,000 plus Catholics, not counting the domestic helpers and other foreign nationals. If everyone of us chips in, we just need to put in $1,250 each. What seems to be an astronomical figure isn’t really unachievable!
Different people will of course decide the amount according to their own financial capability and choose appropriate means of donation, monthly or otherwise.
St Teresa of Calcutta has once said, “No matter how small, no act of kindness is ever wasted”. Let’s begin with us, today, for the evangelical work of the Church!
